Saddleback will induct 62 former student-athletes into the college's Athletic Hall of Fame on Saturday, October 22, during halftime of the Homecoming football game against Fullerton College.
Dr. Tod A. Burnett, president of Saddleback College, stated, "Our Hall of Fame inductees are truly inspiring athletes who have made us all proud for their impressive accomplishments. It is a great honor to welcome them back on campus for this Saddleback College tradition."
The Saddleback athletic department conducts its Hall of Fame induction ceremony every four years. Most of this year's inductees came from the 2008-2012 academic years, but the college reached back in time to also honor some from the very first athletic teams.
"Saddleback has a strong athletic history and so we step back in time every four years to show our appreciation for the dedication and hard work of these alumni. There have been so many exceptional student-athletes here that it's hard to select just a few to induct, but we feel this year's class represents their teams well," said Athletic Director Tony Lipold.
There are 21 football players in this year's class, including current NFL players Kyle Long (Chicago Bears), Menelik Watson (Oakland Raiders), and Richard Crawford (San Diego Chargers). There are also nine members from the women's tennis team which claimed a state title and a regional runner-up finish during this time period.
Homecoming and Hall of Fame pregame festivities start at 4:00 p.m. inside the stadium with the Hall of Fame class being introduced at halftime.
Tickets to the game are available at the stadium ticket booth. General Admission tickets are $12 with students, senior citizens, and children admitted for $8.
