Bobcats enjoy greatest finish in Daktronics Cup

The Saddleback athletics department had a sensational year in 2021-22, finishing sixth in the state in the Daktronics Cup and 18^th in the nation.  It was the best finish in program history since the rankings system was developed in 2003-04. 

Saddleback athletics had some sensational finishes in 2021-22.  The Bobcats finished second in the state in both women's golf and men's golf and were third in both men's water polo and women's track & field.  They had other solid playoff runs in both women's soccer and baseball, with women's soccer being the No. 2 seed for the Southern California Regional Playoffs and baseball being the No. 1 seed.  It all added up to 124 points, which was the highest score for the program since the rankings were established.  The Bobcats were eighth in the region, which included schools from Washington and Oregon. 

Saddleback's previous best finish was in 2004-05 when it finished with 113.5 points and in ninth place in the standings.  Saddleback also tied for ninth place in 2003-04 with 113.5 points.

The Daktronics Cup started out as the Pepsi Cup in 2003-04 and became the NATYCAA Cup in 2008-09.  It became the Daktronics Cup in 2018-19. 

The Learfield Cup is a national award given to the top community college in the nation.  The Bobcats finished 18^th this past year.
