Cats earn split on the beach
Hylton and Ray win twice on Friday
The Saddleback women's beach volleyball team split two matches at Golden West College on Friday in Huntington Beach. The Bobcats will play again on Friday at Fullerton.
Saddleback had two solid matches on Friday, falling to host Golden West (1-4) in the opener before turning around and beating Santa Ana (3-2) in the late match.
Saddleback battled hard in the opener before coming up short. The Bobcats got a win from Nicole Hylton (pictured) and Hannah Ray at the 3's as they defeated the team of Jalissa Costa and Pearl Miller, 21-16, 24-22.
Saddleback then defeated Santa Ana, 3-2, to pick up its first win of the season. Once again Hylton and Ray were dominant, defeating their opponents 21-9 and 21-5 for a second win on the day.
Saddleback also got wins at the 2's and 4's as the middle of the lineup was strong. Cori Willcoxson and Kayla Ostovar were 21-11, 21-10 winners at the 2's while Kara Lehmenkuler and Kyra Bouldin were 21-9, 21-7 winners at the 4's.
Saddleback is now 1-3 to start the season. The Bobcats will play at Fullerton College on Friday.
