Saddleback to play Orange Coast later in the day
The Saddleback beach volleyball team opened the day with a 3-2 victory over Cypress College on Friday at the Great Park in Irvine. The Bobcats and Chargers were playing in 90-degree heat.
Saddleback looked good from the outset, sweeping the 2's, 3's and 4's in claiming the win.
Nicole Hylton and Hannah Ray were the first to record a point when they raced past their opponents at the 3's with a 21-8, 21-10 win. Shortly thereafter, Eva Gardner and Kyra Bouldin recorded a second win over their opponents at the 4's, 21-13, 21-17. The Bobcats then secured the team match when Cori Willcoxson and Kayla Ostovar finished off their opponents at the 2's, 21-15, 21-16.
Saddleback played hard but came up short in three sets at the 1's and 5's.
Saddleback is now 3-5 overall and 3-1 in Orange Empire Conference play following the win. The Bobcats will take on Orange Coast College later in the day.
