Saddleback remains alone in second place
The Saddleback beach volleyball team kept pace in the Orange Empire Conference standings with a 5-0 win over Fullerton College on Friday in Fullerton. The Bobcats dominated from start to finish to remain in second place in the Orange Empire Conference (OEC).
Saddleback won every match in a sweep, never surrendering 10 points in any set. With the win, the Bobcats improved to 8-6 overall and 8-2 in OEC play.
Saddleback started the day up 1-0 after Fullerton failed to produce a fifth set of pairs, needing just two wins to clinch the team victory. The Bobcats made quick work of the task as Eva Gardner and Kyra Bouldin (pictured) teamed for a 21-5, 21-5 win at the 4's and Hannah Ray and Nicole Hylton were 21-6, 21-5 winners at the 3's. About the same time, Cori Willcoxson and Kayla Ostovar were finishing off their opponents at the 2's, 21-3, 21-7. Also winning in quick fashion were Meg Gardner and Keelyn Lopez at the 1's (21-7, 21-9).
Saddleback is now in a tight battle with Orange Coast College for second place in the conference standings. The Bobcats have a half-game lead on the Pirates with four matches remaining.
Saddleback will visit Orange Coast next Friday.
