The Saddleback baseball program was back in the news this weekend with the announcement that another member of the 2024 state championship team has committed to a four-year university. Sophomore J.C. Allen signed to play at UC San Diego, according to the baseball office.
Allen had a tremendous career at Saddleback. His 127 RBI over two seasons was the second highest number in program history behind Kirk Bolling's 137 (1997-98).
Allen also became the second player in program history to hit three home runs in a game in the opening outing of the 2024 campaign against College of the Canyons. He finished with 13 home runs for the year, which was the ninth highest total in program history for a single season. Allen batted .309 for the year and finished second on the team with a .551 slugging percentage.
UC San Diego plays an NCAA D1 schedule within the Big West Conference. The Tritons finished 30-23 overall in 2024.
