15 Gauchos make all-conference team
The Saddleback football program had another big season in 2016, capturing its second straight National Division Southern League title. With the success on the field comes recognition, as 14 players and a coach were named all-conference.
The Saddleback football program had another big season in 2016, capturing its second straight National Division Southern League title. With the success on the field comes recognition, as 14 players and a coach were named all-conference.
A total of 10 Gauchos made the first team all-conference list as Garrison Young, Edward Vander, Deondre Moore, Aaron Ball and Marvin Marshall made it from the offense while Jeff Holsinger, Chris Evagues, Brett Guerrero, Karson Block and Alvin Williams made it for the defense. In addition, head coach Mark McElroy was named co-conference coach-of-the-year along with Fullerton head coach Tim Byrnes.
The second team offense featured three Saddleback players as Nick Robinson, Remy Wasserbach and Korey Mariboho made the list while Jojo Binda made the team as a kick-return specialist on defense.
Saddleback finished the season 9-2 overall, finishing 4-1 in league play and losing in the opening round of the playoffs at Riverside City College.
