Crapo to be inducted into FCA Hall of Fame

The Saddleback football program was back in the news this week with the announcement that another former coach is heading to the California Community College Football Coaches Association (CCCFCA) Hall of Fame.   Steve Crapo will become the 16^th member from Saddleback College to be inducted on Saturday at the induction ceremony in Visalia. 

Crapo coached at Saddleback from 1999-2021.  During his tenure, Saddleback made the post-season 17 times, advancing to a bowl game or playoff appearance in 17-of-19 seasons from 2001-2019. Saddleback finished first or second in their league standings in 17 seasons during his time at the school while the teams were a combined 154-68 during Crapo's time as the defensive coordinator. During Crapo's tenure over 230 defensive players earned scholarships at four-year schools, including a handful of players that went on to play in the NFL.

In addition to his coaching legacy, Crapo was part of a Saddleback coaching staff that excelled in academic excellence.  The program was routinely a leader in SFCA All-Academic Team selections.  Saddleback finished in the top two in Southern California on six occasions in all-academic selections from 2009-2019, with a Southern California-leading 17 selections in 2019 and a Southern California-leading 10 in 2010. 

The Hall of Fame induction is Saturday, March 8 (11:30 AM)  at the Elks Lodge in Visalia, California.
