Cats now 12-0 and counting
Saddleback to play at El Camino Tuesday
The Saddleback flag football team won three straight games at the MiraCosta College Tournament on Friday in Oceanside. The Bobcats are now 12-0 to start the season.
Saddleback has had a busy schedule in recent weeks, playing nine games in the past 14 days following the games at MiraCosta. The Bobcats had a couple of close calls on Friday before a big win in the final game.
Saddleback got tested by El Camino and had to score in the final five minutes to pull out a win in the opener. The Cats threw three interceptions in the game but had all the right stuff when it mattered. With the game tied, Saddleback drove down the field and scored the game-winner when Brooklee Harris found Olivia Green for a 7-yard touchdown with 4:30 remaining for a 20-13 win.
Game two was close until the second half as Saddleback held a 12-6 lead at the break. The Bobcats then put the game out of reach when Harris scored on fourth down and goal on a three-yard run for a two-score advantage with just over seven minutes remaining in the game.
Game three was a blowout from the start. The Cats scored 19 points in the opening half as East Los Angeles looked out of gas entering the third game of the day. The Bobcats scored 20 more points in the final half as Kirra Clavijo threw touchdown passes to Mikaela Thibodeaux (45 yards) and Isabelle Whittaker (10 yards)
Saddleback is scheduled to play on Tuesday at El Camino. The Cats and Warriors are set to kickoff at 3:00 PM in Torrance.
