Thank you coach!
Saddleback expected to name new coach in the coming weeks
The Saddleback athletics department said goodbye to flag football head coach Rick Brail on Tuesday, who decided to retire from his head coaching position. Brail started the program two years ago and gave the Bobcats instant results in creating one of the best programs in the country.
Brail guided the Bobcats to a 29-12 record over two seasons and had Saddleback ranked No. 9 in the nation by JCGridiron.com at the end of its second season.
"It's been a great honor to start the program at Saddleback," Brail said. "After 30+ years of coaching I'm looking forward to pursuing other priorities in my life."
Brail came to Saddleback from Tesoro High School where he started the high school flag program after a coaching the baseball program at Tesoro for 20 years.
"We were fortunate to start our program with such an established coach," Saddleback Dean of Kinesiology and Athletics Dan Clauss said. "The future of the program looks great as a result of the infrastructure that coach Brail put in place."
Saddleback expects to announce a new women's flag football coach in the coming weeks.
