Mojo signs with four-year program
The Saddleback men’s basketball team was back in the news this week when the basketball office announced that another player from the 2015-16 squad will move on to the four-year level. Forward Maurice Jones becomes the third Gaucho to strike a deal when he committed to Northwest Nazarene University.
The Saddleback men's basketball team was back in the news this week when the basketball office announced that another player from the 2015-16 squad will move on to the four-year level. Forward Maurice Jones becomes the third Gaucho to strike a deal when he committed to Northwest Nazarene University.
Jones was a big part of the Saddleback run to the title game this past fall, averaging 8.1 points and 4.6 rebounds-per-game. He was selected to the Orange Empire Conference Second Team following the season. Jones scored a season-high 19 points against Cypress College on January 13 and scored in double-figures in seven of the last nine games of the season. He shot 50% from the field for the season, shooting 73% from the free throw line. In addition, Jones led the Gauchos from three-point range, making 36-of-84 for the year (42.9%).
Northwest Nazarene is an NCAA DII program located in Nampa, Idaho. They are a part of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference and finished 8-18 this past season.
Jones is one of three Gauchos to sign scholarships from the 2015-16 team.
