Bobcats open RCC Tourney with a win
The Saddleback men’s basketball team opened the Riverside City College Tournament with a 68-55 victory over Ventura College on Wednesday in Riverside. John McFadden had a big afternoon as the Bobcats improved to 7-3 overall.
The Saddleback men's basketball team opened the Riverside City College Tournament with a 68-55 victory over Ventura College on Wednesday in Riverside. John McFadden had a big afternoon as the Bobcats improved to 7-3 overall.
McFadden finished with a double-double, scoring 25 points with 11 rebounds. McFadden had 14 points in the first half as the Bobcats opened up a 38-22 lead at the intermission. Saddleback had it on cruise control the rest of the way as McFadden finished 11-for-19 from the field.
Charlie Stallings had a solid performance off the bench, finishing with a game-high 15 rebounds as Saddleback had a 50-33 advantage on the glass. Stallings also added 14 points of his own in being the second leading scorer in the game.
Saddleback's defense was solid throughout, holding Ventura to 34% shooting from the field and 16.7% from long range. Malachi Hiers had a season-high three blocked shots in the game.
Saddleback is now 7-3 overall for the season. The Bobcats will face San Bernardino Valley College on Thursday at Riverside City College at 4:00 PM.
