Qualifying standards reached at first meet
Williams' "A" standard in the long jump highlights first meet
The Saddleback men's track & field team had a great first day of the season at Soka University on Saturday. The Bobcats had one "A" standard and two "B" standards met in the opening meet of the season.
Isaiah Williams was the big star, finishing first in the long jump with a leap of 6.92-meters. Williams achieved "A" standard status with the jump. In addition, he finished 10th in the 60-meters with a time of 7.09.
Saddleback completely dominated the pole vault event, finishing 1-2-3. Connor Hutchison won the event when he cleared 4.30 meters. It was a "B" standard qualifying score and a great first outing of the season. Right on his heels was Harrison Baker in second place (3.80m) and Canyon Hadsall in third place (3.65m).
Another turning in a "B" standard was Rylan Edrosolano, who finished third in the high jump with a leap of 1.80-meters.
Other top 10 performances were turned in from Timothy Wells, Kendall Jones, Griffin Schwab, Shaun Thompson, Mikey Schinstock and Ian Moore. Wells finished third in the 60-hurdles in a time of 8.96 before finishing eighth in the 400-meters (53.86). Jones finished third in the triple jump (12.80m) while Schwab was fourth in the 60-hurdles (9.13). Thompson was sixth in the 60-dash (7.03) while also finishing eighth in the 200-meters (22.75). Schinstock was sixth in the 400-meters (52.54) while Moore was eighth in the 1-mile run (4:52.60).
Saddleback will be back in action at El Camino College next Saturday.
