Men’s track cleans up at OCC Classic
Bobcats record five wins at the event
The men's track team has had a great start to the 2026 campaign and the Bobcats continued the good start with a great performance at the Orange Coast Classic on Friday in Costa Mesa. The Bobcats had five winners and 14, top five finishes.
Rylan Edrosolano (pictured was one of three athletes to finish in the top five in the high jump when he won the event with a leap of 1.90 meters. It tied Edrosolano's top jump of the year and managed to hold off two other competitors that cleared the same height. Griffin Schwab was one of those competitors, but unlike Edrolsolano he missed on his opening attempt at the height while Edrosolano cleared the bar. Malachi Hiers also finished in fifth place in the event as he cleared 1.75 meters.
Another winner was Connor Hutchison, who was one of three Bobcats to do well in the pole vault. Hutchison had a personal-best vault of 4.43 meters to win the event. The Bobcats finished 1-2-3 in the event, with Canyon Hadsall (3.95m) finishing second and Harrison Baker (3.35m) third.
Michael Schinstock captured a win in the 400 hurdles when he had a personal-best time of 54.47. Right behind him was Timothy Wells in third place with a personal-best time of 57.05.
Jace Orsini was the other winner on the day for Saddleback, winning the 3,000-meter steeplechase in a time of 11:13.19.
Saddleback had four other individuals finish in the top five. Jameel Naber was second in the javelin throw (52.54m). Shaun Thompson was second in the 200 meters (22.20). Kendall Jones finished fourth in the long jump (12.71m) while Ian Moore was fifth in the 800 meters (2:03.82).
Saddleback's 4 x 100 relay team continues to put up solid results as they finished third in the event on Friday with a time of 42.67.
Saddleback will be back in action on Friday at the San Diego Mesa Invitational.
