Men finish 8th at state
Second best finish for a men's track team in program history
The Saddleback men's track & field team had a solid finish to the season, claiming an eighth-place finish at the state finals on Saturday at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, California. It was the best finish at the state meet for the men's program since finishing eighth in 2011 and ties for the second-best finish ever.
Saddleback had some sensational performances along the way, finishing with three second place finishes and a fifth-place finish in individual events.
Mikey Schinstock, Connor Hutchison and Isaiah Williams all finished second in their respective events while Jameel Naber was fifth.
Schinstock had an amazing finish to the season with a second-place finish in the 400 hurdles. After setting the program record a week earlier (52.06), Schinstock ran a 52.77 at the finals to finish second in the state.
Hutchison had an electric finish, clearing 4.65 meters to finish second in the pole vault. It was a career high for Hutchison and moved him into the top 15 in program history.
Williams was an eyelash from winning the long jump when he leaped 7.34 meters on his fifth attempt to take the lead in the event. He was edged by a Mt. SAC jumper on the final jump of the meet in finishing second.
Saddleback had one other top five finisher in Naber, who finished fifth in the javelin. Naber had a fling of 53.13 meters on his third attempt of the day.
In addition, Saddleback's 4 x 100 relay team finished in seventh place.
