Bio

Pat Higginson started coaching the Saddleback College water polo program in 2004. Prior to Saddleback, he was the head coach at Valhalla High School for eight years, earning two CIF Championships as well as being named CIF Coach of the Year on two occasions.  During this time at Valhalla, Higginson’s teams were league champions for all eight seasons he was at the helm.  In addition, he was also the girl’s water polo coach at Valhalla where his teams were league champions for four consecutive years, making four straight CIF appearances.

As  a club coach, Higginson’s teams have won national championships for both boys and girls in the 14, 16, and 18 year old divisions and his masters women’s team have medaled three years in a row in the USA Water Polo National Championships with a third place finish in the FINA Masters World Championships.  Coach Higginson spent four years with the USA Water Polo National Youth Team staff traveling and competing throughout Europe and Canada representing the United States. 

Coach Higginson teaches Social Studies at Capistrano Valley High School and has also been the head coach of the girl’s water polo and swim team since 2002. He lives in San Clemente with his wife and two daughters, whom also swim and play water polo.  Higginson earned his bachelor’s degree from San Diego State in political science and is currently finishing his master’s degree in coaching and athletic administration at Concordia University.
