Coach Trani set to retire

The Saddleback softball program was back in the news this week with the announcement that head coach Nick Trani has retired after 30 years of coaching at the school.  Trani leaves as the winningest coach in program history.

Trani began his career at Saddleback in 1995.  He splashed onto the scene quickly, guiding the program to its first playoff appearance in seven years.  Trani guided his teams to the post-season 15 times, including 10 appearances in the regional finals and two berths in the state tournament. Saddleback captured Southern California regional championship titles following the 1996 and 1999 seasons when they were also state runners-up. The four-time conference coach-of-the-year, Trani is the winningest softball coach in the history of Saddleback College.  He finishes with a 638-511-3 overall record. 

"It was a lot of fun and I developed a lot of great friendships over the years," Trani said.
