Cats win third straight
Ka'ui Garcia and Kylee Cammarato dominant in win
The Saddleback softball team won its third straight game with a 2-0 victory over Mt. San Jacinto College on Tuesday at Bobcats Field. Kylee Cammarato pitched a complete game shutout for the Cats.
Saddleback and Mt. San Jacinto swapped venues on Tuesday after the folks at Mt. San Jacinto deemed their field unplayable due to wet conditions. The Bobcats took advantage of the friendly confines in picking up third straight win.
Saddleback got out of a jam in the opening inning when Mt. San Jacinto had two hits in the first three batters but could not get home a runner to open the scoring. Cammarato struck out Trista Clarke before getting Marleigh Wielinski to line out to left field to end the threat.
Saddleback opened the scoring in the bottom half of the third inning when scoring a ru8n with two outs in the inning to break the stalemate. Millie Maher was hit by a pitch with two outs in the inning before Ka'ui Garcia tripled to deep center field to open the scoring.
Saddleback added an insurance run in the bottom half of the fifth inning when Garcia hit a ball that cleared the fence in center field for her first home run of the season. It gave the Cats a 2-0 lead, which was more than enough with Cammarato on the mound.
Cammarato silenced the Eagle bats the rest of the way, retiring Mt. San Jacinto in order in both the sixth and seventh innings. She improved to 6-2 on the season, striking out four Eagle batters while walking none.
Garcia led the offense, finishing 2-for-3 with two RBI and one runs scored.
Saddleback is now 9-5 overall following the win. The Bobcats will host Chaffey College in a double-header on Wednesday. The opening pitch of game one against the Panthers is set for 1:00 PM.
