Cats have a hoot against Owls
The Saddleback women’s basketball team improved to 3-2 with an 80-72 victory over Citrus College on Wednesday night inside the gymnasium. The Bobcats had a huge first quarter in cruising to the win.

Saddleback trailed 4-2 to start but quickly raced past Citrus and never looked back. The Bobcats took the lead when Mariana Mina made a three-pointer with 8:04 left in the opening quarter to grab a 5-4 lead. Saddleback would go on to make 5-of-6 from long range in the quarter while building a 29-11 lead after the opening frame. Mina was perfect for the quarter, finishing 4-for-4 from the field and 3-for-3 from long range.
The next three quarters belonged to Kassidy Beach. After a scoreless opening quarter, Beach (pictured) scored 7-8-8 in the next three quarters to finish with a team-high 23 points. Beach was unstoppable inside, finishing 10-of-17 from the field while collecting a game-high 12 rebounds.
Saddleback was red hot from the outside all night, making 12-of-30 from beyond the arc after entering the game shooting just 23% from long range over the first four games. The Cats were also unselfish on the court as Nina Saiki had a season-high 11 of the teams 25 assists.
Saddleback is now 3-2 for the season following the win. The Bobcats will host San Diego Mesa College on Friday evening at 5:00 PM.
