Cats climb to #12 in the polls
Second round of OEC play starts Wednesday
The Saddleback women's basketball team was back in the news on Tuesday as a new set of rankings came out from the California Community College Women's Basketball Coaches Association (CCCWBCA). The Bobcats moved up three spots to No. 12 in the rankings this week.
Saddleback is 18-5 for the year, which is the best record for the program since starting 19-5 during the 2016-17 campaign.
Saddleback currently sits atop the Orange Empire Conference standings after a 6-1 start during the opening round of conference play. The Bobcats' lone loss in OEC play was to two-time defending state champion Orange Coast College (OCC), who came in at No. 8 in the rankings.
Saddleback and OCC are part of an Orange Empire Conference with five teams ranked in the top 25. In addition to Saddleback and Orange Coast, Cypress College is ranked No. 7, Irvine Valley College No. 10 and Santa Ana College No. 25.
Saddleback opens the second round of conference play at Irvine Valley College on Wednesday night at 7:00 PM. The Bobcats defeated IVC, 68-61, in overtime on January 9 in the opening round of conference play.
