Saddleback and Pasadena City was a rematch of last year's regional finals, so it made sense that the game would have some extra emotion and a close outcome. The two squads remained scoreless through the first 45 minutes, with Saddleback holding a 4-1 advantage in total shots through the first frame.
Saddleback came out with intensity in the second half and finally broke through when they were given a penalty kick when Pasadena City was called for a foul inside the box. Jinan Said made good on the opportunity with her second goal of the season to give the Bobcats a lead they would never relinquish.
Saddleback controlled play throughout the second half, outshooting the Lancers 10-4 over the final 45 minutes. Pasadena City never recorded a shot on goal the entire night, making things fairly easy for keeper Maycie Pugh.
Saddleback is now 4-0 to start the season. The Bobcats moved into the top spot in the state in power points, which is one of the main criteria for post-season selection. Right on their heels at No. 2 is Pasadena City, who dropped to 3-1 with the loss.
Saddleback will host Santa Barbara City College on Tuesday as part of a double-header with the men's team. The two squads are set to start at 4:00 PM inside the stadium.
