“A” standards achieved at first meet
Roxanne Meyer and Alexandra McCoy reach "A" standards at first meet
The Saddleback women's track & field team was in action on Saturday in the opening meet of the season at Soka University. The Bobcats had a trio of "A" standard performances to open the season.
Roxanne Meyer had an outstanding start to the season, achieving the "A" standard in both the High Jump and Triple Jump. Meyer finished first in the high jump with a leap of 1.60-meters. It put Meyer in a tie fourth place all-time in program history with the highest jump since Jolie Robinson cleared 1.60m in 2022. Meyer wasn't finished, finishing second in the triple jump with a distance of 12.15-meters. It was also an "A" standard qualifying score and the second best performance in program history behind only Kristin Kulow (12.19m) in 1989.
Joining Meyer in the "A" standard club was Alexandra McCoy, who cleared 2.90-meters in the pole vault in her first event of the season. McCoy (pictured) won the event on Saturday and move into 14th all time in program history. Also finishing in third in the event was Sarah Maclean, who was third when she cleared 2.15-meters.
Other top-10 performances for Saddleback were turned in by Shae Barrera, Kiana Zerehgar and Payton Love. Barrera was sixth in the 1-mile run (5:30.79), Zerehgar was eighth in the 1-mile run (5:37.37) and Love was eighth in the 3k race (11:29.33).
Saddleback will be back in action at El Camino College next Saturday.
