Meyer sets two new standards
She now leads the state in both events
The Saddleback track & field team was back in action on Friday at the Moorpark Invitational in Moorpark. Roxanne Meyer had another sensational day, breaking her own program record in one event and then setting a program record in another.
Meyer took home first place in the triple jump when she had a leap of 12.53 meters (41'1.5") to win the event by nearly two feet. It broke the program record she set at the El Camino College Meet in late February when she leaped 12.29 meters.
It wasn't the only win of the day for Meyer, who finished first among community college competitors when she jumped 6.16 meters (20'2.5") in the long jump. The leap broke the program record in the event set by Sara Morton in 1986 when Morton leaped 5.95 meters (19'6.25").
Meyer now has the longest jump in both events in the state this season and has met the "A" Standard with both marks.
