Saddleback lost the opening set when Riverside City took advantage of a number of Saddleback miscues for a 25-22 win. The Bobcats then turned the match around in the middle of the set and managed to outlast Riverside City in a marathon set, 31-29, to even the score.
Riverside had an 11-7 lead in the third set when the momentum completely turned. The Bobcats went on a big run, scoring seven straight points to take the lead. Saddleback would end up scoring 18 of the next 24 points as the Tigers started to look tired in a hot and sticky gymnasium.
Saddleback dominated the fourth and final set, streaking past Riverside City, 25-16. In total, Saddleback scored 43 of the final 65 points of the match to beat the Tigers 3-1.
Saddleback is now 5-2 overall and 2-0 in Orange Empire Conference (OEC) play following the win. The Bobcats have a non-conference match at Chaffey College on Wednesday night (6:00 PM) before returning home for conference play on Friday when they host Golden West College (6:00 PM).
