The Saddleback women's water polo team played in the Long Beach City College Mini-Tournament on Friday, looking for two wins to tie a program record for wins in a season. The Bobcats came away with a pair of victories to accomplish the goal.
The opening game was the easy one as they breezed past Grossmont College, 17-4, to improve to 18-9 on the season. Emily Hendries and Marin Hickson both had four goals in the game to lead the Bobcats in scoring.
The second game was a battle, taking on a Long Beach City squad that had defeated them by one goal just six days earlier. The Bobcats got revenge, returning the favor with an 11-10 win against the Vikings. Katherine Butler scored four goals in the win to lead the team while Emma Jimenez scored the game-winner with 1:08 remaining on the clock.
Saddleback is now 19-9 overall on the season heading into the Orange Empire Conference Tournament next Friday. The 19th win tied a program record set last season when the Bobcats finished 19-14 overall.
