Cats claw Seahawks for quick start

The Saddleback women's water polo team opened the season with a 24-12 victory over Cabrillo College on Friday at the Cuesta College Tournament. The Bobcats received a big game from Sophia Banua.
Banua finished the game with 11 goals and two assists as Cabrillo had no answer for her in the offensive end. After a somewhat quiet opening half, Banua scored eight times in the final two quarters as Saddleback eventually pulled away from the Seahawks. She scored the final four goals of the game and five times in the final quarter.
Saddleback had a number of other solid performances. Carlota Pereira finished with five goals and five assists with three steals. Lily Padilla had three goals and three assists while Razann Kotarche had three goals for the game.
Saddleback started Hannah Goehring in goal and she played close to two quarters before giving way to Megan Parsley between the pipes. Parsley finished with a team-high six saves for the game.
Saddleback will play again at 1:50 PM when they face the host team from Cuesta College.
