The Saddleback women's soccer team defeated Fullerton College, 6-0, on Friday afternoon inside the stadium. The Bobcats dominated the Hornets from start to finish.
Saddleback was facing a Fullerton squad with only four wins on the season, so they entered the contest as heavy favorites. The Bobcats wasted no time in making quick work of the Hornets, scoring three times in the first 18 minutes in cruising to the win.
Saddleback opened the scoring in the second minute when McKenna Pugh took a pass from Jinan Said and beat the keeper for her seventh goal of the season. Said then made it 2-0 in the seventh minute when she took a pass from Araylia Holiday and scored her 10th goal of the season for a 2-0 advantage.
Holiday then got into the action after Said was taken down inside the box, giving the Bobcats a penalty kick. Moments after Said had missed a penalty kick, Holiday made good on her opportunity for her seventh goal of the season and the Bobcats had a 3-0 lead with under 18 minutes having been played.
Saddleback took the opportunity to get a bunch of new jerseys in the game as it was very apparent that Fullerton wasn't likely to make it a tight contest. Milana McClain got into the box score when she scored her fifth goal of the season in the 37th minute to put the game on ice.
Saddleback scored a pair of goals in the second half for the 6-0 margin. Mikaela Thibodeaux and Aleena Ali both scored their first goals of the season in the 65th and 68th minutes, respectively, to finish off the scoring.
Saddleback finished with a 29-2 advantage in total shots and a 21-1 advantage in shots on goal. Cameron Simmons played the entire game in goal to improve to 4-0 on the season.
Saddleback is now 13-2-3 overall and 8-1-3 in Orange Empire Conference play following the win. The Bobcats host Santa Ana College next Wednesday at 1:00 PM in the final regular season home game of year. Saddleback will then head to Santiago Canyon College next Friday in what could end up being the conference championship game.
