The Saddleback women's soccer team defeated Santa Ana College, 3-0, on Wednesday inside the stadium. The Bobcats now face Santiago Canyon College on Friday with the Orange Empire Conference championship on the line.
Saddleback was facing a Santa Ana team with no wins on the season so the game was billed as a mismatch on paper from the outset. The Bobcats did not disappoint, outshooting the Dons 26-3 while cruising to a win.
Saddleback scored three first-half goals in the first 23 minutes to put the game on ice midway through the opening half. McKenna Pugh picked up a loose ball off the foot of Jinan Said and scored her eighth goal of the season in the 15th minute to start the scoring.
Saddleback then scored two goals in a matter of a minute to open up a big lead. Araylia Holiday scored on a ball put forward by Karissa Franco for her 8th goal of the season in the 23rd minute. Within a minute later Franco put the ball onto the foot of Milana McClain, who beat the keeper for her sixth goal of the season.
Saddleback took the opportunity to get some fresh jerseys in the game with the game well in hand. The Bobcats started Cameron Simmons in goal and she played the opening half in earning her fifth win of the season. Maycie Pugh played the second half in goal.
Saddleback is now 14-2-3 overall and 9-1-3 in Orange Empire Conference (OEC) play. The Bobcats will play at Santiago Canyon College on Friday with the OEC championship on the line. The Bobcats and Hawks are scheduled to start at 3:00 PM in Orange.
