Catnip Award #8…Saddleback adds men’s soccer

It is that time of year when the Saddleback sports information department produces the top-10 high points in Saddleback College athletics for the calendar year.  Catnip Award No. 8 for 2022 goes to – Saddleback Adds Men's Soccer.

One of the final things announced in 2022 was the addition of men's soccer for the fall of 2023.  The decision came on the heels of Saddleback winning the 2022 CCCAA women's soccer state title.

Saddleback named BJ McNicol as the head coach, who quickly went to work in promoting the program.

"I think we offer the best game-day experience in the state," McNicol said.  "I'm excited for the opportunity to try and replicate the success we have had on the women's side.  South Orange County has a great soccer community and is a hotbed for student-athletes looking for a place to launch their college soccer career."

Saddleback will announce its inaugural men's soccer schedule in the spring of 2023.
