For the first time in 17 years the Saddleback women's water polo team qualified for the CCCAA Southern California Regional Tournament after being seeded seventh by the water polo coach's association on November 7. The Bobcats not only qualified for the playoffs, but won a game in the playoffs to set a new program record with 19 wins on the season.
Second year coach Molly Andrews commented on the accomplishments.
"It's been an exciting and rewarding season," Andrews said. "It will be interesting to see where the program goes from here. I'm confident this is just the beginning of good things to come. Hopefully we can use this as a building block."
Saddleback made it to the Southern California Regional Quarterfinals for the first time since 2005, finishing the season 19-14 overall. The Bobcats were led by Akemi Nakachi, who led the team with 57 goals and 43 assists for the year.
