It is that time of year when the Saddleback sports information department produces the top-10 high points in Saddleback College athletics for the calendar year. Catnip Award No. 6 for 2022 goes to – The Baseball Season.
The 2022 baseball season was one of the greatest in the 54-year history of the program. The Bobcats won the Orange Empire Conference, averaged nearly 10 runs a game and tied records for consecutive wins and consecutive conference wins.
Saddleback finished the season 36-10, which was tied for the second most wins in a season in program history. The Bobcats ripped off 17 straight wins during the season to tie a program record achieved in both 2002 and 1997. They also tied a program record with 11 straight wins in conference play.
Saddleback entered the playoffs as the No. 1 seed in Southern California and made it to the regional finals before getting beat by Palomar College.
Following the season the Bobcats had 10 players and a coach named to the All-Orange Empire Conference Team. Saddleback had close to 10 players sign with four-year universities and catcher Jordan Dissin was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies organization.
